Alexandrous "Alex" Argyris

Personality

Alex is a soft spoken and
sweet young boy,
extremely shy and rarely
one to initiate a
conversation with
people. He suffers from
undiagnosed clinical
depression, which
causes him to have
intense mood swings
without him really
knowing why. The
common result of these
mood swings are two
usual moods for him.
One of his common
moods is a very sweet,
bubbly young boy who
will happily help out
anyone who asks. He's
happy, though still very
shy. His other common
mood is that of someone
who has intense self
loathing and will often
shut himself off from
others due to fear of
being a burden on them.
He has a general fear
and mistrust of pretty
much any Magus, this is
due to PTSD from the
"examinations" he went
through for most of his
life. He also has a quirk
where he shuts down
completely when the
word "examine" or any
form of it is said or
brought up. Usually this
ends up with him crying
and curbing into a ball,
and no amount of
proding or jostling will
get him to snap out of it.
The only consistent way
to get him to snap out of
his flashbacks is the
smell of hot chocolate.
After all hot chocolate is
something that comforts
him immensely so the
smell calms him down
no matter what.

Backstory

Alex was the fifth child of the latest generation of the
Argyris family. The family is located in Athens Greece, and
their bloodline can be traced all the way back to the Age of
the Gods. Alex was an unexpected child, coming after his
mother and father had reached an age where having
children would have been unlikely. His birth was
unceremonious, but after having the baby examined the
family discovered something that awestruck them. This
child's magic circuits were something the family had not
seen in generations, the fantastical quality and quantity were truly something that the family was proud of. If he
had been born earlier perhaps he would have been given his
family's magic crest, however due to his elder brother
already having it, that was impossible. The family decided
that with a specimen this extraordinary, they would have to
use him for something.
The family had been running into some financial issues
while Alex was growing up, and that was when his parents
had an idea. They would loan Alex out to other magus
families or individuals for whatever they wished to use him
for. That being settled, Alex was loaned out for the first
time just after he had turned five. The "examinations" as he
was told they were called were usually nothing more than
brutal experimentation with the intention of abusing his
magical circuits. When he was young things were not
horrific, he was simply being drained of all his magical
energy and similar things that ended up damaging his
circuits. These experiments would end up stunting his
growth once he hit the age of ten, leaving him to forever
look like a relatively small child. He spent the longest time
with a family in Belgium. There he would be treated like
trash for the most part, only able to interact with the
animals that roamed the city streets. He also met a kind old
man who passed the gate of the yard every day. Whether it
was out of pity of he just liked children, the old man would
talk to him and every day he brought Alex hot chocolate.
Amongst the painful memories, those were some that he
can remember fondly at least.
Then he turned eleven, and his body started to change. This
was the point when the "examinations" turned from bad to
horrific. His parents loaned him out as essentially a way for
newer magus lineages to possibly produce an extraordinary
heir. He was well... abused numerous times and forced to
produce so that various families might have access to his
DNA for future generations. This went on for years, until
his parents were told about an organization called Chaldea.
At this point the boy was already beyond damaged, and his
parents clearly cared very little for his well being. He was
shipped off to Chaldea as a master candidate purely as a
way for the family to brag about what they had produced.
There was a verbal promise that the boy would simply be
there to summon servants, however this was not put in writing so there is no reason he could not be fielded in the situation the world found itself in.
